Steampunk Charlotte Doll Wands!

What could be a better way then combining steampunk and doll into one project, the result: Steampunk Charlotte Doll Wands!

Each wand is made from my hand molded frozen charlottes, paper rosettes made from my scrapbook paper line (licorice stripes), masonite crown shape, mica flakes, seam binding, vintage sequins and tinsel, wood and some steampunk magic.
Each wand started with a paper rosette made from my scrapbook paper, cut into two 12 inch strips, folded, glue and turned into a rosette, resembling a wheel/circle shape. Then I jazzed up the crown shapes with mica flakes of various colors that I got from CHA, glued the glittered crown to the rosette, attached one of my flat back frozen charlottes (which are available in small and bulk amounts in my etsy store and at Piddlestixs).

Next I attached a wooden dowel, sequins or tinsel, and seam binding for bow. At this point I could add more ribbon, broken jewelry, clock parts, wheels, or edgy lettering to complete the piece.Here they are all grouped together!These rustic vintage wands were so fun and easy to make. Whimsical Paper Rosettes

I love love love paper, you can never have too much as far as I'm concerned, lol! The following projects were created using paper from my scrapbook line, china doll heads from my parts line, additional scrapbook papers, ribbons and other fun items.



Each rosette is thick and has a height between 8 1/4 inches to 10 inches and have been finished using a decorative cut with pinking sheers.
This is a great project to do with left overs scraps of paper, old sheet music, old book pages, even magazine pages or tin. Try layering fabric over sturdy card stock and spray with spray starch for extra stiffness.

Another idea would be to make miniature ones and turn into room swags or room garland, add to party hats, crowns, turn into ornaments or use as the ruffle in a doll head or figurine. this easy to do rosette can be turned into a whimsical story land or distressed and turned into a vintage splendor using piano papers, doilies, aged felt, velvet and broken jewels, the possibilities are endless.I hope you enjoyed some of my paper rosettes and became inspired!

Recycled Halloween!

As many of you know I love love love to recycle and re-use items in a variety of way. By recycling I can give new life to things, you help the environment, and it cost virtually nothing. A book and its pages can be turned into a plethora of things from wall art to a wreath to a new book, rosettes, party hats, crowns, cones, etc.

For this recycled project I used left over un-painted jack-o-lanterns treat lanterns, bird foliage pick, pumpkin picks, floral wire, floral moss, book pages for the party hat and rosettes, paints, Beacon's Tinsel glitter and Kid's Choice glue.

I hand painted the pumpkins, then assembled the piece, the end result a fabulous Halloween hanging assemblage that you can create for friends/family, yourself or do with the kids!

Silhouette Rosettes!

What's better then recycling old and discarded books? There are so many books we have lying around from our houses, studios to the discarded book sections of our libraries and schools. The covers make for great canvas bases, new book binding, altered books, wall hangings, or for pages themselves. Old books can be transformed into shadow boxes, shrines, mini theaters, decorative boxes or stacked for lamp bases, shelves and display.

The pages of books can be folded directly in the book for some unique wall hangings, cut pages can be transformed into paper cones, paper fans, paper birds, origami, into wreaths, rosettes and more. This summer I have been more active into using the pages of books and turning them into large rosettes perfect for hanging in your house, used as a wreath or ornament.

For the following rosette style I rolled book pages and scrapbook paper into cones, trimmed their edges with pinking shears, added my hand pressed silhouette medallion, paints, ribbons and clear glass glitter.



My next rosette was the original one which was the foundation of the other rosettes. This piece has layers of rolled book pages, black grosgrain ribbon, German silver glass glitter and my hand pressed black silhouettes

This blue belle style rosette was created the same as the above rosette, but I added some crepe paper then coated several of the folds and the silhouette with Aquamarine glitter.



I'm currently creating some silhouettes with rolled tin, and vintage wallpapers too.
