Angel Kitty Wand By DT member Deb Famularo

I'm excited to showcase today the first in a series of posts that will be filled w/projects from our New 2013-2014 Design Team.

Deb Famularo is one of our newest DT Members for Lisa Kettell Designs. The project I am showcasing today is called:
"Angel Kitty Wand" created by Deb Famularo.

Materials:

• Wood star craft wand
• Mini Kewpie, Lisa Kettell Designs 
• Gold Dresden foil angel wings in medium and small
• Sewn paper and tulle trims, from etsy seller Julie Collings
• Vintage lace
• White fuzzy trim
• Burlap trim
• Loose pearls
• Jumbo rhinestone
• Vintage earring
• 2 Silver tinsel pipe cleaners 
• Millinery flower 
• Patterned leopard print scrapbooking paper
• Letter stickers of choice
• Photograph of cherished cat (or pet)

Instructions:  

1. Adhere patterned scrapbooking paper to front and back of wood star wand.   Glue silver tinsel pipe cleaner along star edges, front and back, using one pipe cleaner per side.
2. Glue sewn gathered paper trim along star edging starting at base and continuing all around. Next, glue tulle trim on top of paper trim making sure it’s centered.
3. Once again starting at base and continuing all around. Take your photograph and hand cut along your pet. A photo of your pet sitting works best.
4. Make sure the photograph is in proportion to your wand. Using the medium sized gold dresden foil wings, adhere each wing behind pet photo. Glue pet photo to center of wand.
5. Embellish with millinery flower on cat’s head (for girl.) On back side, adhere jumbo rhinestone paw print sticker (Hobby Lobby) to center of star.
6. Using letter stickers, arrange the name of your pet on top of the paw print sticker.  
7. Using some of the tulle lace trim, cut a 2 inch piece and glue to Lisa Kettell Designs mini cupie for a dress. Glue mini gold dresden foil wings to back of cupie, and glue to base of star.
8. Add millinery flower to cupie head. Wrap the wand stem with burlap, using a dab of glue at top and bottom to hold. Wrap gold lace over the burlap again using a dab of glue at the top and bottom edge.
9. Knot lace and fuzzy trims at base of star and add jumbo rhinestone on top. Glue loose pearls at star points, front and back. Top with vintage earring cluster (removing back first) at star base.
10.  Finish with a couple of heart shaped stick pins.
    

How amazing is this project from Deb? A perfect compliment to the Lisa Kettell Designs Line and the Holiday Season. A tribute to your cat, pet or loved one.

Blue Moon Cupie Plant Stake

Blue Moon Cupie Plant Stake

Materials:

 

    Cupie scrap book paper

    White Card stock   

    Modge Podge or White Glue

    Foam core 

    Bamboo Skewer

    Ruby Red and Silvery Blue Glitter

Directions:

1.Using the Cupie scrapbook paper from Lisa Kettell Designs, glue the Cupie to card stock using Modge Podge to give rigidity

Trim the Cupie out once it's dry

2.Using a paint brush with Modge Podge or white glue to put glue on the heart and the lips sprinkling ruby glitter on the heart and lips

3.Cut a 5 1/2" circle out of foam core spread Modge Podge on top and sides, sprinkle blue glitter all over the circle

repeat for back side and let dry

4.Glue back of Cupie liberally about to waist of Cupie place onto moon and put heavy book on it until it is set

5.Using a bamboo skewer stick gently stick in the side of the circle behind the Cupie's legs

This is great for a party or just a cute decoration in a plant!

Tips:
-Use outdoor glaze or decaupage medium and apply a few coats to your plant stake, insert in garden.
-Laminate your plant stake image for a weath proof all condition garden stake.

Glass Vignettes For All Occasions !
No matter what the occasion is, glass vignettes make a welcome addition to any home, studio or party. These vignettes have been called by a few different names: Captured Jar Fairies, Jar Fairies, Memory Jars, Image Jars, Glass Houses, Glass Orbs, Recycled Jar Scenes, Snow Globes, Glass Theaters and more.Glass Vignettes can be made from practically any glass vessel, with a wide enough opening to insert items into such as dolls, paper imagery, millinery, moss and paper shards. These vignettes can be made from wine glass, medicine bottles, canning jars, candle jars, candy jars, glass vases, clear holiday bulbs, peanut jars, baby jars, perfume bottles, gumball machines, clear plastic eggs and vessels, fish takes and discarded clocks.These vignettes can be made as bridal shower and baby shower favors, given as gifts to the bridal party with special imagery inside, used to make vacation memory jars filled with special items and a picture to capture that vacation, create birthday party vignettes, make ornaments from them, re-create a fairytale scene, or insert whimsical fairies inside, the possibilities are ended. I have been making these tiny scenes for years and have included some glass scene projects in my book; Altered Art Circus, Quarry Books, 2009. Inside you will find a glass fairy orb wand, fiji mermaid jar scene and jar cozies, just to name a few. As for custom orders, I have created custom wedding favor jars, bridal shower jars and baby shower jars, including a set of jar wedding fairies I made for each wedding party member for a wedding I was in. I recently was asked to custom make 2 flower fairy jars for two sisters who shared similar birthdays, including a circus themed birthday using my circus follies characters inside the jars, which matched the circus follies cake toppers and pics, each was hand sculpted and adhered to the jars which would comprise of a huge circus scene complete w/Giraffes, Ballerina Elephants and Mer-Bears.For some of the vignettes, I enhanced the outside of the glass jars using additional imagery, sculpted items, millinery, glitter and broken jewels, all depending on the theme of the jar being created.Here is a more Gothic toned Witch/Wizard Glass Vignette, made with vintage shredded paper, vintage imagery, vintage 1800's lace/trims/velvet, German glitter, Velvet Flocking, Rhinestones and more.

Steampunk Charlotte Doll Wands!

What could be a better way then combining steampunk and doll into one project, the result: Steampunk Charlotte Doll Wands!

Each wand is made from my hand molded frozen charlottes, paper rosettes made from my scrapbook paper line (licorice stripes), masonite crown shape, mica flakes, seam binding, vintage sequins and tinsel, wood and some steampunk magic.
Each wand started with a paper rosette made from my scrapbook paper, cut into two 12 inch strips, folded, glue and turned into a rosette, resembling a wheel/circle shape. Then I jazzed up the crown shapes with mica flakes of various colors that I got from CHA, glued the glittered crown to the rosette, attached one of my flat back frozen charlottes (which are available in small and bulk amounts in my etsy store and at Piddlestixs).

Next I attached a wooden dowel, sequins or tinsel, and seam binding for bow. At this point I could add more ribbon, broken jewelry, clock parts, wheels, or edgy lettering to complete the piece.Here they are all grouped together!These rustic vintage wands were so fun and easy to make.
