Crepe and Seam Flower Medallions!

Today on Flower Power Tuesday we are going to create Crepe Paper and Seam Binding Flower Medallions! These flowers can enhance your scrapbook layouts, assemblage projects, banners, party hats, party cones/tussie mussie's or turn into flower pins to wear.

Materials:

-Crepe paper party streamers (color of choice)

-Seam binding (color of choice)

-Quilting thread

-Quilting need

-Jewels, pearls or beads

Step One: Paper pleat your crepe paper strips, then stitch through one end of the crepe paper using a needle and thread, recommended stitch: Running Stitch, or use a sewing machine.

Step Two: Attach the seam binding, using needle and thread with a running stitch

Step Three: After you are satisfied with the length of crepe and seam binding, cut and begin to arch to form a circle, pulling the threading as you go

Step Four: Hold the two ends of in place and stitch closed

Step Five: Begin playing with jewels, rhinestones, pearls, beads

Tips:

-Layer 2 crepe paper medallions together for a thicker piece.

-Add an old clip earring to the medallion center

-Add an image to the medallion or an image head, seal with a clear page pebble.

-Instead of a flower use the stitched crepe and seam binding strip as trim for a page or for a doll skirt.

The possibilities are endless, here is an example of a scrapbook page layout I created using crepe paper medallions that I made using crepe paper, my doll parts and my scrapbook paper.

Vintage Dresden Bell Boat Ornament Project, Step by Step!

I have always been enamored by vintage ornaments, Victorian die cuts/scraps, Dresden trim, boullion and Christmas. For years I have been making old world style ornaments for family and friends, today I want to share my step by step project on how you can create your own Vintage Dresden Bell Boats, make sure you give them your own twist.

Material List:
-German Image Scraps (Victorian Scrapworks)
-Dresden Trim and Pieces (Victorian Scrapworks)
-Bouillon or Crinkle Wire/Lametta (Tinsel Trading or Victorian Scrapworks)
-Bell Ornament
-Vintage Style Tinsel Garland(Bethany Lowe)
-Paper Scrap or Tissue Paper
-Paper Wrapped Floral Wire
-German Glass Glitter (Art Institute of Glitter)
-Designer Dries Clear (Art Institute of Glitter)
-Hot Glue Gun, Hot Glue
-Scissors
-Additional: Rhinestones, Ribbons, Floral Components and Millinery

Step One:
Pick your German scrap image and your bell base

Step Two:
Fill your Bell base with paper scraps or tissue paper, secure in place with hot glue

Step Three:
Place your German scrap image into the paper filled bell, secure in place with hot glue
Step Four:
Wrap your tinsel garland around the inside of the bell, until the top is covered, cut, secure in place with hot glue

Step Five:
Attach floral wire to each side of the bell, secure with hot glue

Step Six:
Wrap the tinsel garland around the floral wire, secure in place with hot glue

Step Seven:
Embellish your piece w/Crinkle wire, Dresden trims, German glass glitter, millinery, rhinestones and more.
The Final Pieces:

I hope you enjoyed this project and start to get inspired for this coming Holiday season. Try a truly vintage Christmas Ornament using Old World Santa's and Angels instead of the storybook ones I used. If you don't have glass glitter, try Martha Stewart antique silver glitter available in most craft stores.

The New Doll Parts on the Block!


I have been busy creating new doll parts and pieces for my embellishments line, many will be exclusive to My Moonfaires World Website, This Blog and My Piddlestixs Store. I also created value pack collections in a variety of themes: Storybook, Wonderland, Charlotte, Kewpie, Fairy, Birthday Party and Cake Party. These value packs have a savings between 20 % to 40% depending on the value pack.

All the parts in the collection are hand molded, hand pressed, dried, sanded and painted by me for now the only real way I can offer a discount on these pieces are through bulk custom orders, value packs and at the store, my auction and listing sites can only be discounted to a point due to listing fees, etc. However, once these are produced by a manufacturer next year, they will be available in stores.

My parts have been gracing the works of many artists from altered artist to jewelry designers to doll makers and scrapbookers. They are lightweight, and flat back perfect for laying onto surfaces. Some pieces can come rounded for charm making and doll making.
