A Day at Simplicity

With building the new blog format (not yet released), the website and creative work, I have neglected blogging for over a month, after returning from VK Live. During this time so much has happened and lots to share.  I'll start with a recap of my day in NYC at Simplicity and the girls.

After getting our schedules together, I ventured into the city to see my friend Michele at Simplicity Creative Group, along with a friendly lunch with Michele Muska, Laura Kelly and Laura Neiman at Pera. You couldn't ask for a better group of girls to spend the day with. Being creative, fun and exciting.

 

Traveling to the city is just a train ride away for me and one I enjoy.  I always grab my coffee and start walking to my destination, first off Simplicity Creative Group.  Okay, I have to say, I just love it here.  I'm always excited here.  The ribbon room is like eye candy for the soul. I mean how do you choose your favorite ribbon, or trims, you just can't.

 

Exploring through the sewing department and seeing everyone hard at work to bring you the latest simplicity patterns and products is exciting.  Vintage dress forms still in use, fabrics draping down off tables, glimpses inside Ek Success Brands and chatting with creative types adds to your time there.  I love the staff and their creativity.

Before we left, the four of us exchanged gifties, hugs and love, then we were all off to enjoy a wonderful lunch at Pera.  Can you say fabulous? The food at Pera is divine, Mediterranean cuisine at its finest.

Relaxing with Michele and the girls was incredible, a complete pick me up for the month.  We all left happy, inspired and shall I say, full? lol.  I returned home with a bag of goodies and a fabulous memory with good friends.  Can't wait to see my girls again.

This bowl was a gift for my new dog "BO" from Laura Kelly, created in her signature style, along with personal heart ornaments for my momma and me, plus a stash of her buttons. The trims below are from Simplicity. These will grace some projects soon.

I will keep blogging here for all adventures and creative fun. The new blog on word press will have mostly projects and creative ideas.  It should be ready first week of April, I will keep you all posted.

The Carnival of Toys at Piddlestixs!

The carnival has arrived at Piddlestixs, Lions, Tigers and Bears oh my....Piddlestixs now has a bevy of carnival/circus delights, toys, dolls, oddities, supplies, animals, circus animals, stuffed and plastic, all vintage and new, tons of items to fuel your imagination.
If you do not live in the NJ area and can't reach Piddlestixs in person, but still want to shop, continue to look at the pictures I post, if there is something you want or looking for, just ask, we ship world wide.
Many of you know I am a circus fanatic and love everything about it and I try to stock as much of this memorabilia as possible, even cookies, candies and treats. The front of the store has edible treats and sweets sure to fuel your shopping snack desires, lol.

So come one, come all, to the Piddlestixs Carnival, where magic awaits your arrival.

A Parcel Workshop and Adventure!
When I came back from Silver Bella I treated myself to another bday gift, this time with my mom at Parcel, in Montclair, this shoppe is beyond words fabulous, just ask anyone who has been there. You'll be there for hours looking inside all the wall vignettes and nooks and crannies. I especially love the vintage circus section, too cute and magical.Mom and I headed to the Office for dinner and walked on over to Parcel and was greeted by the wonderful Nancy, Vanessa and Kristin who was teaching the class: A Marie Paper Doll, made from gorgeous crepe paper, images, trimmings and millinery.I spent about 15 minutes taking pictures of all my favorite spots in the store, deciding what would be great Christmas gifts for myself, lol and friends. After looking at some of these images from Parcel, you will agree with me its an artful storybook filled with surprises. I really love the magical Fairy Dust, don't you want to buy every color?The next big surprise was when My pal: Marlene aka Queen Bee walked into the store to take the workshop too, I love Marlene, we were both at Silver Bella together, and this was another treat for us...We were given pre-made forms and assembled others, I choose Peach, I normally don't work w/peach, but I wanted to work with a color to challenge myself, and I loved it, Peach is my new fave color. Challenging ourselves helps us to grow as people and for me as an artists. I'm always learning every second, every minute of the day, that's the most exciting part.I haven't finished mine yet, but hope to have the final details on it finished by Christmas, Its going to be one of the toppers for my many holiday trees at home. All she needs is some extra millinery and glitz.Kristin-InstructorWhile working on our dolls, we muched on yummy rose flavored cookies, mini pastries, sparkling waters and wine, these all make the night or any night that much more, lol, I love pastries.
Plus I was able to connect w/friends and meet new ones, we all worked together well. Our dolls each resembled our own styles and artistic magic.Me and NancyMarlene, Mom and Nancy It was a magical time had by all and I hope you enjoyed reading my Parcel adventure!
