DT Project: Pink Pixie Fairy, Debra Famularo

Deb’s Pink Pixie Fairy Card

Materials:

• Lisa Kettell Designs Cupie Head
• ATC card backing
• Mini pink bottle brush tree
• Lisa’s Altered Art collage images
• Hello Dollie image by www.retrocafeart.com   
• Pink scalloped trim by Julie Collings
• Glitter, flower, rhinestones, pink craft wire, ink, pink sequin trim and adhesive.

Directions:

1.   Layer an ATC card backing ephemera of choice, and a collage image of a cupie doll, secure in place with adhesive.

2.   Attach a cupie head from Lisa Kettell Designs to top center of the cupie doll image on the ATC card.

3.   Add dimension to ATC with ink of choice.

4.   Embellish with scalloped trim, bottle brush tree, sequins, rhinestones, flower, craft wire and glitter.

This is such a fun project to create for any occasion, holiday or for a gift. ATC's are great trading projects as well.

    

    Bottle brush trees work for some many projects. Valentine's Day is coming up, this would make a great Valentine card or use in a party banner. Instead of a rectangular background shape, use a heart shape.

Cupie Stick Pins by DT Member Kim Smith

Today I am posting a project from returning DT member Kim Smith, who created this whimsical set of stick pins using Lisa Kettell Designs products. These can be used in almost anything. Add these stick pins to a project, scrapbook layout, assemblage or insert in cupcakes or just jazz up a party.

Here is Kim's Project:

Need a cute, quick, easy project to give as a gift, wear as a hat or lapel pin or accent your altered art? I made these Cupie Head Stick pins using items from LisaKettellDesigns...want to know how I did it? Here you go....

Materials:

• Cupie Dollheads, LKD (Lisa Kettell Designs)
• FrouFrou Stickpins, LKD (Lisa Kettell Designs)
• Green Glitter Stars, LKD (Lisa Kettell Designs)
• Glitter..I used white, pink and blue
• Paper Flowers
• Rhinestones

Directions:

1. Take Frou Frou stick pin and gently slide it into  the Cupie Doll head. Check to be sure it's where you want before you continue.
2. Put a thin line of white glue on head and sprinkle with glitter. Add rhinestone accent. 
3. For Cupie Flower Stickpins, glue bottom of pin to star, add glitter and paper flower. 
4. What next? Add more glitter! (be careful when working with the stickpin, you can add a pin keeper to the end to prevent getting poked and to finish the artpin.)

The Kit Includes
-Small globe base
-XL Cupie doll head, aqua color hair
-1/2 crescent moon
-swizzle wand stick
-Pre-made paper cone wizard hat
-White paper wire
-Glitter stars
-Crepe paper
-Embellishments, ribbon, little foil medallion
-Complete Project Instructions

The globe measures 5 1/2 inches tall.
The XL cupie head, flat back measures around 3 inches by 3 inches

Pippa's Magic Party

Pippa's Magic Party was created using the Pippa Bella embellishment from the Cupie-ology Line, Lisa Kettell Designs, in addition to scrapbook paper, chipboard frame and butterfly wings from K & Co.

This is the perfect embellishment to enhance any scrapbook or craft project. Each embellishment is flat backed making it ideal for gluing to project bases. Pippa Bella is sold in a pack of 2 and pack of 5. She is available in a few colors and with the paper cone hat (hat patterns vary).
 
Pippa's Magic Party is a simple scrapbook project, you can further enhance into a variety of styles and themes such has tags, party banners, assemblages, cake toppers and page layouts, so many possibilities with my product line.

Sunburst Carnival Journal Project

"Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings These are a few of my favorite things"- Sound of Music We all know just how much I love the Carnival and Cupie Dolls, that's why I'm excited to share with you this fast and easy project I created that everyone can do in a few short minutes with a few simple supplies, its called a Sunburst Carnival Journal. Transform any journal or notebook into a carnival journal w/a few simple supplies and steps. Materials: -XL Cupie head from Lisa Kettell Designs -Medium Sized Wood Craft Sun or Moon -A Journal -Craft Glue of Choice -Optional: Glitter, Ribbon, Bakery Twine, Lettering, Broken Jewelry Directions: 1. Place the medium sized wood craft sun onto the center of the journal, glue in place. 2. Attach the XL cupie head on top of the wood sun, glue in place. 3. Add extra embellishments such as glitter, ribbon, lettering, etc. Tip/Tricks: -Use hot glue for faster gluing -Coat XL cupie head with glitter or embellish with broken jewelry -Line the bottom edge of journal with colored measuring tape (found in the sewing section of craft stores) -Add found objects to journal -Cover a composition notebook with scrapbook paper or wrapping paper, then add wood accents and cupies Hope this project inspired you to create a journal of your own, cupie heads and other embellishments are available. xoxo Lisa

Blue Moon Cupie Plant Stake

Blue Moon Cupie Plant Stake

Materials:

 

    Cupie scrap book paper

    White Card stock   

    Modge Podge or White Glue

    Foam core 

    Bamboo Skewer

    Ruby Red and Silvery Blue Glitter

Directions:

1.Using the Cupie scrapbook paper from Lisa Kettell Designs, glue the Cupie to card stock using Modge Podge to give rigidity

Trim the Cupie out once it's dry

2.Using a paint brush with Modge Podge or white glue to put glue on the heart and the lips sprinkling ruby glitter on the heart and lips

3.Cut a 5 1/2" circle out of foam core spread Modge Podge on top and sides, sprinkle blue glitter all over the circle

repeat for back side and let dry

4.Glue back of Cupie liberally about to waist of Cupie place onto moon and put heavy book on it until it is set

5.Using a bamboo skewer stick gently stick in the side of the circle behind the Cupie's legs

This is great for a party or just a cute decoration in a plant!

Tips:
-Use outdoor glaze or decaupage medium and apply a few coats to your plant stake, insert in garden.
-Laminate your plant stake image for a weath proof all condition garden stake.

New Vignette Area in my Studio at Piddlestixs!

Everyday I try to come up with enchanting ideas to enhance my store and my studio space at the store, which has become my creative sanctuary, the place where I create and get inspired in. My studio in case you didn't know yet is located on the former stage of a playhouse/theater from the turn of the century in a 150 year old building located in Historic Lafayette, NJ, in the back of my store at Piddlestixs.
I comb flea markets, auctions, rummage sales, yard/garage sales, salvage yards, and dumpsters (lol) to find pieces for my studio and the store, always on the hunt for a glass cabinet, shelving or prop to decorate my store with. I have a total obsession with vintage stamp trays, cigar boxes, old fruit crates and trunks. I love apothecary glass, rusty books and of course dolls, especially my beloved cupies, kewpies, celluloids and charlottes, with a love affair of anything circus, carnival or storybook.


If its wizards, witches, fairies, mermaids or odd, I'm going to love it, the mystery behind these icons and folklore legends has always fascinated me from a young age, the works I do revolve around them and anything of magical enchantment. I'm always on a mission to find things which can bring me to a magical world and allow for my imagination to soar. The hardest part is doing this on a budget as furniture can be pricey, that is why I comb thrifty locations for furniture, and have wonderful friends and customers who bestow goodies onto me, lol.
A few weeks ago I enjoyed the town clean up week, where I found a few amazing tables, shelves, hutch, stamper trays, cigar boxes and fun pieces to re-purpose in my store, plus a friend recently gave me a box of dolls, some broken parts and TLC dolls, which I fixed and added to my studio, especially loved my cupies I received, I see some new molds in the works, lol.
In this post today, I wanted to share with you some of the newest areas of my studio, hope it brings you some inspiration and some magic, it doesn't take a whole lot of money to create a magical workspace, just a bit of creativity and some imagination!
