CHA DAY 2: More of the Fun!

After the fun CPS meet-up, Julie left for her demo's at the Tri-Art/Jack Richardson Booth, while Pam and I walked the floor. It was amazing to see Pam and to catch up on everything, she is incredible inside and out. First we stopped off to the Barnes and Noble Booth on the lower level of the show! Look what I found: Altered Art Circus meets Candyland. Candyland is the book by: Candy Spelling.
Here I am with Elissa, who works for Barnes and Noble, I met her last year, she rocks!
After our stop off at Barnes, Pam and I began the first floor walk, while there I ran into my friend Joy! Joy is absolutely amazing!
On the way through the aisles Pam and I went to visit Julie at her booth!Here is the class she taught at CHA: How incredible is this? Julie is one of my BFF's and a truly talented artist.
The day wouldn't be complete without seeing my favorite person in the world besides my mother, lol, Miss Suze herself:Suze is one of my dearest friends!Suze and I walked the floor a bit, check out this cute Princess and the Pea Booth Decor! After some time, I detoured to my publishers booth! Look at this all star cast: Judi Ketteler ( we have a similar last name, lol), Traci Bunkers, Stefanie Girard, Catherine Steen and Me. These ladies ROCK!
Here we are: Suzann and Stefani. Suzann is the woman behind Beadphoria and Stefanie, Sweater Surgery, Can I say both are once again FABULOUS!Now here is one of my fave pictures with Miss Maria Del Pinto, Maria and I instantly became friends and is someone I admire alot, she is such an amazing person!After this photo I scurried up to the front lobby to meet up with Julie and Mike, look who we ran into, Jenni Bowlin and friends, Jenni is super nice and once again another talent, I love her works and products!Now Day 2 is officially over, off to dinner with the Bergmann's at the haunted restaurant: The Spaghetti Factory, which has a location in a turn of the century former school, that post tomorrow.

Ranger Ink, Crazy Quilt Video and CHA Melt Art Project!
Before I begin blogging my 9 post CHA adventure which involves so many exciting things, I want to start with Ranger Ink.

A few months ago I created a project called:
"Crazy Quilt Heart"
I made this using: Claudine Hellmuth Studio Sticky-Back Canvas, Studio Paints, and other Ranger Ink Supplies. Then I headed down to Ranger, we filmed the project and as of a few days ago its available for you to see and follow on both the Ranger Site at: www.rangerink.com

This project has a variety of possibilities:
Some extra tips/tricks:
-Try Making sticky back canvas silhouettes, I have a I made before I left for CHA, I will uploads photos of them soon.
-Make a Sticky Back Quilt Hanging: By attaching two pieces of sticky back canvas to a wooden dowel, wire wrap the ends, decorate and voila a fab artful canvas quilt.
-Sticky Back Canvas Decorative Pillows
-Sticky Back Canvas Dolls: (I'll have photos of these up soon as well, I made these using my Galerie Des Modes Images and Sticky Back Canvas)

While creating this project I began creating pieces for the Ranger Melt Art Challenge Board at CHA, using wood,and melt art projects. Well anyone who knows me, knows I couldn't resist a Carnival/Circus Theme, mixed with Dolls, lol.

For this challenge I decided to use my handmolded doll molds, filled w/beeswax, painted and beeswaxed again. I created utee glitter, beeswax critters, coated paper wire, and painted paper, plus sticky back canvas all with Suze's Beeswax, adding glitz with stickles and more Ranger glam.

I call this project: "Lulu's Carnival!" Looking at all the other projects, a few others decided on a Circus Theme: Tim Holtz, Debbie Tlach, Michelle Bernard.

Tiara Chronicles Meeting!
The day after the Ranger Warehouse sale, My mom and I trekked back down to South Jersey just outside Tinton Falls in Ocean, NJ to Suze's fabulous studio for the next installment of Tiara Chronicles. It was Suze's turn to create a project and boy did she, we did encaustic wax layering using the melting pot and creme brulee torches.Okay one time using a creme brulee torch and you will go out and buy an army of them, they are so easy to use, love them and the melting pot, well that has got to e one of my favorite tools I use it for melting wax, utee, and anything that can be safely melted in it, sometimes I have 3 melting pots going at once, lol.For this project we coated a thick wood square w/a resin base wax, using a wax brush, then layered colored encaustic wax over it, followed by more base wax, then another layers, etc., we detailed the pieces with poured wax molds from Suze's molds, added more wax and colored in using the wonderful Pan Pastel chalks, these chalks are so rich and brilliant, a must have for any artist.The result 3-d and detailed encaustic wax paintings, for mine I used my doll mold which I colored in w/pan pastels chalks and added some stickles too, of course it would be a dollie, lol!For today's meeting, Patti came by for a bit and the rest of the group was: Suze, Joan, Bonnie, Michelle, Debbie, Teresa, Linda and Me. Each of the finished pieces were the result of everyone's character and ideas. I mean you couldn't pick a favorite, I fell in love with each of the girls piece. After seeing Suze's new bird wax pieces, I became instantly hooked on birds again, just like I was last year, lol.

Suze will be teaching a similar style class at the Art Opera 2010, held in Red Bank, NJ April 7-10, 2010, Linda will be teaching 2 classes, as will Joan, plenty of surprises to come.Before I left Suze gave me a beautiful dress form which I have been wanting forever, my old one broke which is now used for table top display, but now I have a new and beautiful free standing one, I am sooooo happy.

Afterwards Mom and I headed over to Shrewsbury to Anthropolgy and neighboring stores for some sales and finds, completing our day, I bought a cute tank top long dress shirt and a cute paperdoll pattern book, my mom picked up her fave perfume next door. What a fabulous way to end the day!
