Whimsical Paper Dolls!

When I was 8 I had a friend that had a huge collection of paper dolls, fortunately she was generous and didn't mind sharing. We'd play for hours, changing accessories and outfits.One of the best things was being able to keep all the outfits that were damaged...I'd bring them home and "repair" them, adding glitter, construction paper, photos from magazines and fake flowers.
This week's project for Lisa Kettel Designs helped me remember how much fun that was.
I used an image from a collage clip art CD which you can find in Lisa's shop.

Marie Antoinette Materials
Vintage Image
ribbon
pink ruffled ribbon
cage and bird stickers
red glitter heart sticker
resin rose stickers
glitter in dark pink, iridescent pink
paper flowers
small artificial rose
white pompom trim
rhinestones
decorative scrapbook paper
card stock
white craft glue
hot glue
glue stick

Directions
1.print image onto card stock
2.glue decorative paper onto card stock using a glue stick, press out air bubbles,
3.cut into skirt shape
4.attach image to top of skirt
5.hot glue ruffles to lower half of skirt, starting at the bottom.
6.add pompom trim using white glue
7.add paper flowers to dress
8.brush white glue to flowers and sprinkle with iridescent glitter
9.arrange rhinestones onto doll
10.attach artificial rose to skirt using hot glue
11.place cage on her head and bird sticker to her hand
12.add glitter heart sticker to hip
13.hot glue ribbon to back of doll to hang if you wish










Flower Fairy Materials
Vintage image
glitter paper
fabric roses
silver glitter tinsel
artificial leaf
crepe paper flower
pink pipe cleaner
ribbon
coarse glitter in pink and gold
plastic wings
card stock


Directions
1.print image onto card stock, cut out
2.draw arms onto remaining card stock, cut out and glue to torso
3.glue leaf to bodice
4.add fabric roses to top of arms to form sleeves
5.glue tinsel ribbon to 'waist'
6.hot glue torso and head to tissue paper flower
7.drizzle white glue to flower and cover with pink glitter
8.form legs out of pink pipe cleaner and glue to inside of skirt
9.add more fabric flowers for shoes
10.cut out crown shape out of gold glitter paper attach to top of head
11.glue wings to back of doll.
12.add ribbon to back of doll to hang




Tip:
use butterfly wings or stickers instead of plastic wings
tissue paper flowers can be found in the greeting card/birthday section of Target
use crepe paper instead of fabric ribbon

My Scrapbook Paper Line
Attention all scrapbookers, paper lovers, artists and party-nista's, I have added some new designs to my scrapbook paper line. Here is a sampling of some of my papers from all three lines, each accompany my parts and embellishments line of products perfectly!Lots of circus and carnival, cupies and crowns!And Fairytales, Storybooks, Dolls and Sweet Marie!

Cupcake Liner Dolls, The Fashion Plate

Here is another example of my cupcake liner dolls, his time using more frou frou and embellishments to resemble a fashion plate illustration, using one of my restored fashion plate images found on my flickr site.

In addition to more crepe paper, I used pastel yellow bakery string and extra millinery, mostly vintage. Many of these components are available in either my artfire store or at my store front: Piddlestixs, located in Lafayette, NJ.

A Marie Valentine, a project for you!

Marie's Soiree is my twist on a Vintage Valentine. Made using a medium sized chipboard heart base, aged crepe, my scrapbook papers: Cocoa Crowns, Pink Luggage, Marie doll form part from my embellishments line, scrapbook flowers, ribbons, trims, millinery, glitter, etc.!

Materials:
-Medium to large chipboard heart or heart party decoration
-Cocoa Crowns Scrapbook Paper, Lisa Kettell Designs
-Pink Luggage Scrapbook Paper, Lisa Kettell Designs
-Marie doll form, Lisa Kettell Designs

-Baby blue crepe paper
-Scrapbook flowers
-Ribbons and trims
-Millinery flowers, stamens
-Glitter
-Glues: Zip dry, Kids Choice and Fabri-tac, Beacon Adhesives
-Petal Porcelain, Plaid
-Tools: Scissors
-Inks: Tea Dye Color, Distressed inks, Tim Holtz, Ranger Ink
-Other: cardstock, rhinestones, pearl ornaments, white floral wire etc.

Directions:
1. Rub zip dry all over the chipboard heart, press onto the reverse side of the pink luggage scrapbook paper, trim the paper to fit the heart ( the reverse side is the non-illustrated side of scrapbook paper).
2. Apply ribbon/trim of choice to the heart using fabri-tac, trim to fit.
3. Paper pleat crepe paper, fold in half, glue fold point to entire border of heart using kids choice glue, let dry, about 15 minutes.
4. Rub distressed ink onto various sections of the crepe paper, then crumble and crimp the crepe paper ends, pressing them into random spots, for an aged look.
5. Insert white floral wire into a small pearl holiday bulb, insert into heart point, secure with kids choice glue, let dry 10 minutes.
5. Draw random fairy/butterfly wings onto cardstock, attach to back of the Marie doll part using kids choice glue, then attach to the center of the heart with more kids choice glue, let dry 10 minutes.
6. Coat the Marie doll part and crepe paper with petal porcelain, let dry about 45 minutes.
7. Embellish with a crown cut from the cocoa crown scrapbook paper, add more ribbons, trims, millinery flowers, rhinestones, and glitter.

Tips:
-Fold crepe paper and stitch down the center w/a needle and thread or sewing machine.
-Mix petal porcelain with a squirt of distressed ink filler in tea dye color, then brush onto the valentine.
-Add pearls to a foam ball using kids choice glue.
-Create smaller versions and turn into a banner for your studio or favorite room.
-Age your ribbons.
-Add Chipboard lettering.

The New Doll Parts on the Block!


I have been busy creating new doll parts and pieces for my embellishments line, many will be exclusive to My Moonfaires World Website, This Blog and My Piddlestixs Store. I also created value pack collections in a variety of themes: Storybook, Wonderland, Charlotte, Kewpie, Fairy, Birthday Party and Cake Party. These value packs have a savings between 20 % to 40% depending on the value pack.

All the parts in the collection are hand molded, hand pressed, dried, sanded and painted by me for now the only real way I can offer a discount on these pieces are through bulk custom orders, value packs and at the store, my auction and listing sites can only be discounted to a point due to listing fees, etc. However, once these are produced by a manufacturer next year, they will be available in stores.

My parts have been gracing the works of many artists from altered artist to jewelry designers to doll makers and scrapbookers. They are lightweight, and flat back perfect for laying onto surfaces. Some pieces can come rounded for charm making and doll making.
